Behind the Scenes
Director's Note
This cabaret is a collection of songs from classically-inspired musicals, with a focus on mythology and classical Greek/Roman stories! Songs came directly from this playlist. As a senior musical theatre major, I wanted my final act as Artistic Director to be bringing musical theatre to the Rudes! I’ve grown up with a love of mythology and classical vocal training, and aim to bring all aspects of this background to these songs.
This is a virtual album that will be released after the festival is streamed on this website. All music will have an acoustic and stripped down feel, with minimal instruments and natural sound incorporated into the final mixes. Vocalists are encouraged to take their own “Rudes twist” on these songs; how can we cross swords, lines, and genders with pre-existing musical theatre songs and keep in mind the mythical quality of each story?
This process had all performers submit audio files remotely, with backing tracks provided by me unless otherwise noted.
